Por si las Moscas
My dad and me would be on our way to work at a stranger's house. It usually entailed painting or power washing or some other odd job that made paying the bills possible. He would always tell me to bring a change of clothes or a sweater "por si las moscas", which is a saying that means "just in case." Just in case I got cold or wet or dirty. Since my fathers passing, my memories have become something I cherish the most in life, specifically memories that involve him. This made me want to photograph everything just in case something else happens. I had never had someone so close to me pass away so this has become a way to put myself back together. These photographs become placeholders for my memories of him and the moments in which they are remembered.
I have decided to continue this project with iterations coming out about every year for the foreseeable future. I am currently working on Volume Three
