Por si las Moscas
My dad and me would be on our way to work at a stranger's house. It usually entailed painting or power washing or some other odd job that made paying the bills possible. He would always tell me to bring a change of clothes or a sweater "por si las moscas", which is a saying that means "just in case." Just in case I got cold or wet or dirty. Since my fathers passing, my memories have become something I cherish the most in life, specifically memories that involve him. His passing has reminded me how much my memories and my family and the home I grew up in mean to me and how he lives on through them but also how much I need to cherish them while they are here. These photographs become placeholders for my memories of him and the moments in which they are remembered.
